He demands his players work as a team, hustle and follow team rules. If they don't, he's not afraid to take action. Already this season, he has gotten rid of All-City center David Redmond twice. He has forced sophomore JV player Adam Kopulsky to wear pink hair no longer. And last week, he suspended his team's leading scorer, sophomore Ellis Richardson, for two games. Without Richardson, Birmingham beat North Valley League co-champion Granada Hills to earn a City Section 3-A playoff berth. "I think it's important to set rules and go by them," Bennett said.
