Rotary Club members are helping renovate a building at 2665 Diamond St. into the clubhouse.

``They're doing a lot to get this done,'' said Laura Setzer, a Boys & Girls Club board member. ``It's the only area in the Antelope Valley that doesn't have a site.''

A ceremony was held Saturday with Kern Kern, river, 155 mi (249 km) long, rising in the S Sierra Nevada Mts., E Calif., and flowing south, then southwest to a reservoir in the extreme southern part of the San Joaquin valley. The river has Isabella Dam as its chief facility.  County Supervisor Steve Perez and Boys & Girls Club board President Alan Krepps to mark the signing of a ``memorandum of understanding'' for the opening of the club.

Rosamond Rotary Club members approached the Boys & Girls Club six months ago about getting a clubhouse opened in their community, Setzer said. Officials hope to have the clubhouse open in mid-April.

It would join the main clubhouse at the Hammack Activity Center in Lancaster, and satellite facilities in Lancaster and Lake Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. .

``We need paint and work done,'' Setzer said. ``We need a lot of stuff and if we can get companies to maybe donate paint, and if people are getting rid of a ping-pong table, furniture, anything like that, we need it desperately.''

The clubhouse is expected to be open from noon to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. It is geared toward youngsters 7 to 17 as an after-school program, offering both fun activities and help with homework.

The clubhouse is not a child care facility, Setzer noted.

``It will be at least an education place and a place for them to go after school,'' Setzer said.

Annual tuition is $10. If parents cannot afford that, the club will work with them, Setzer said. The organization is looking for Looking for

The Rosamond clubhouse also needs volunteer staffers.

``A lot of the volunteers turn out to be kids who have gone through the program, which is a really cool thing because they can share their experiences with the kids,'' Setzer said.
