Player of the Year

WILL HINDLE-KATEL, Jr., Harvard-Westlake

His talent has been evident for years as an All-American on age-group champion club teams, but this was his breakthrough season at the high school level. The third-year varsity player took advantage of the chance to be a full-time starter and helped provide a smooth transition for a program that graduated four All-Southern Section players from a year ago.

Hindle-Katel was the leading scorer for a team that spent most of the season atop the Div. I rankings. The 2-meter player helped Harvard-Westlake of Studio City go undefeated in league and earn the area's only berth in a Southern Section final. He earned Mission League MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. He earned first-team All-Southern Section Div. IV honors.

BRIAN FLACKS, So., Harvard-Westlake

An All-American at the age-group level, the second-year varsity player was one of the Wolverines of Studio City's biggest clutch shooters as well as a tough defender. He was named first-team All-Southern Section Div. I.

TOM DODSON, Sr., La Canada

His switch from offensive standout to heart of the defense was pivotal in making the Spartans the type of team that could win a league title and be ranked No. 1 in its division despite returning only one starter. Dodson was named Rio Hondo Rio Hondo may refer to:
