BOYS' WATER POLO: LA CANADA WINS CIF TITLE LA CANADA 14, MONTEBELLO 11.

LONG BEACH - Devon Borisoff recalled the first time he stepped on the pool deck at La Canada High as a fifth-grader, in awe of the school's three Southern Section boys' water polo water polo, swimming game encompassing features of soccer, football, basketball, and hockey. In La Canada's first trip back to Belmont Plaza since the swimming final, Borisoff and his teammates left nothing to chance on Monday. ``We were not going to lose this championship. We knew we were the best team and we wanted to prove it,'' said Borisoff, who quarterbacked La Canada's offense, recording two assists and three steals. ``We have a great cast of leaders on this team who made sure everything fell into place.''

From there, seniors Doug McNeese (two goals and six assists), Gamal Rady (two goals and two steals) and Jordan Thompson (two goals, three assists and six steals) took over the game, scoring or assisting on the Spartans' final three goals.
