IRVINE -- As Agoura's Peter Kurzeka spent the season shattering the school scoring record, he maintained that it was the depth of talent surrounding him -- not he himself -- that made the Agoura boys' water polo water polo, swimming game encompassing features of soccer, football, basketball, and hockey. The object of the game is to maneuver, by head, feet, or hand, a leather-covered ball 27 to 28 in.  team a favorite to win its first Southern Section title.

The first half of Saturday's Div.IV final at William Woollett William Woollett (August 15, 1735 - May 23, 1785), English engraver, was born at Maidstone, of a family which came originally from the Netherlands.

He was apprenticed to John Tinney, an engraver in Fleet Street, London, and studied in the St Martin's Lane academy.
Aquatic Center was as good as an example as any that the top-seeded Chargers are more than a one-man show.

But it was Kurzeka's clutch performance in the second half that secured the championship in the program's first appearance in the finals. Kurzeka scored all of his team-high four goals, including the deciding goal, in the second half of an 8-6 victory over defending-champion Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach Manhattan Beach, city (1990 pop. 32,063), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1912. "This team, we all work for each other," Kurzeka said. "Fourth quarter, that's when they look to me. That's why I needed to step up."

The score was tied 5-5 entering the final period. Kurzeka broke the tie on a penalty shot with 4:58 remaining. He went on to score all three of Agoura's goals in the period.

"Peter scared me for a little bit," Chargers coach Dusty Litvak said of Kurzeka's uncharacteristic un·char·ac·ter·is·tic

Kurzeka's outing prompted chants of "MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. College coaches eager to recruit him talked to him after the game and even the opposition stopped to congratulate him as the Mustangs left the pool deck.

Kurezka has plenty of big-game experience, having won national championships at the club level and having been a member of the U.S. Youth National team, and he said he used that experience to try to keep the team calm down the stretch.

"This is what we've been working for all season and we couldn't let up," Kurzeka said.

Mira Costa (21-10) took a 4-3lead into halftime after outscoring the Chargers 3-1 in the second quarter. Kurzeka erased the deficit early in the third quarter with his first goal.

Agoura (30-2) led early thanks to a score by Casey Sullivan 27 seconds into the game. Joey Sparks and Brandon Gross also added first-half goals. Gross finished with two goals in the game.

Burton's shot with 29 seconds remaining went wide, and Mira Costa never regained possession, setting off Agoura's long-awatied celebration in the pool.
