Royal led 5-0 before Merrick scored the Sharks' first goal two minutes into the second quarter. Merrick had three goals in the quarter. Joe Sloggy, Carter Baldwin and Jake Philbrick each scored one goal for Malibu, with Philbrick's third-quarter score cutting the Sharks' deficit to 7-4.
