Although the lineups are radically different than last season, Harvard- Westlake and La Canada are in familiar positions entering the postseason, which begins today for some teams. Both teams earned No. 1 seeds for their respective divisions in playoff pairings released Monday. Harvard-Westlake opens the Div. I playoffs Thursday at home against Long Beach Poly. La Canada faces Whittier the same afternoon in Div. III at Pasadena City College.

Harvard-Westlake (23-2) and La Canada (20-6) are the only local teams to earn a top-four seed. They will be trying to earn the area's first section title since La Canada won in 1999.

Section finals are Nov. 24-25 at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach.

La Canada graduated five All-Southern Section players from a team that was eliminated in the semifinals last year by eventual-champion Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach Manhattan Beach, city (1990 pop. 32,063), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1912. That's why they were so excited to play Mira Costa early in the season. They know what it's about.''

Harvard-Westlake also is well prepared to go for its first title since 1991. The Wolverines, who sent five players on to Division I college programs after losing to Corona del Mar Del Mar is the name of several places in the United States of America:
