Denham, who will play next year at Princeton, concluded his impressive high school career by leading Oaks Christian to their first Southern Section Div. IV championship.

Denham set the Lions to a 28-1 record, the loss coming to rival Oak Park late in the regular season.

Oaks Christian had plenty of firepower, but it was the clever passing and lay of Denham that enabled the team to dominate.

``Without a doubt, we had some big-time hitters on this team but Brandon was the key,'' Oaks Christian coach George Hees George Harris Hees, PC , OC (June 17 1910 - June 11 1996) was a Canadian politician.

Born in Toronto to a patrician family, Hees earned a playboy image during his youth, but then became a stalwart member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada.
 said. ``His leadership and decision making was extremely important for us.''

Hees, in his first year at Oaks Christian, made all the right moves in guiding the Lions to a 28-1 record and the Southern Section Div. IV championship.

It was the third title team on which the hard-hitting Pate has played at Chatsworth, and his dominating play in the championship match against Taft of Woodland Hills was the difference. Pate led the team in kills and was named the City Section Player of the Year for the second season in a row.

, was the best player in the highly competitive Marmonte League, using his extraordinary leaping ability and hitting to keep the Pioneers in the league championship race. Jackson's been an outstanding player in the region for three years, and he's expected to make a significant impact at UCLA.

TEDDY GOETZ

Valencia, Jr., MB

The only returning starter from Valencia's 2004 championship team, Goetz took a group of young players and helped lead them to the Southern Section Div. II championship match. The Vikings lost to Corona del Mar, ending their two year reign on the division. Goetz finished the year with 270 kills, 81 blocks and 59 aces.

, Ker stepped into the starting setter's role and helped guide the Vikings to the Southern Section Div. II championship match. Ker finished the year with 1,038 assists, 55 Blocks, 193 digs, 58 aces and 108 kills.

SAM CANTOR

Westlake, Sr., MB

Cantor, who is headed to UC Santa Barbara, helped keep Westlake in the Marmonte League championship race with his dominating play at the net. The 6-foot-6 Cantor was an anchor for the Warriors, who overcame numerous injuries to finish third in the Marmonte League.

MATT TALAMANTES

Viewpoint, So., S

One of the region's most promising young players, Talamantes played with surprising poise and maturity while leading Viewpoint to the Southern Section Div. V championship. Talamantes had 1,087 assists, 214 kills, 73 aces and 111 blocks.
