BOYS' VOLLEYBALL: TAFT RUN ENDS CHATSWORTH HOPES TAFT 3, CHASTWORTH 2.

This was the rematch REMATCH Cardiology Clinical trials–Randomized Evaluation of Mechanical Assistance Therapy as an alternative in Congestive Heart failure–related to use of a portable, electric left ventricular-assist system–LVAS–eg, HeartMate®  Chatsworth's boys' volleyball team had eagerly awaited. For a week and a half, the Chancellors had worked toward their second West Valley League match with Taft of Woodland Hills.

They got their chance Thursday at home, but what they discovered was a slice of reality, not some fairy tale fairy tale

Taft gave a lesson in experience: Having it matters.

The Toreadors, defending league and City Section champions, know dropping some games and suddenly losing their passing ability isn't cause for alarm. They didn't panic and came back for a 15-6, 6-15, 9-15, 15-10, 15-8 victory, putting them in position to win their third straight league title and gain momentum for the playoffs next month.

Yet sometimes, Taft's (8-1, 5-0) knack for overcoming its shortcomings A shortcoming is a character flaw.

Taft coach Doug Magorien knows it. Last year's team went undefeated while losing exactly one game in 53 played. This season, the Toreadors have lost seven, including a match to Grant, three games to Chatsworth (7-2, 4-2) and one to Granada Hills.

Plus, the Toreadors were hobbled Thursday by main passer Inshik Shin's inconsistency. Recovering from preseason snowboarding snowboarding: see under skiing.

Yet Taft found a way. Middle blocker Joel Rodstein had 14 kills, and middle blocker Nic Armstrong had 11 kills and three blocks.

``We're tough little snots, tough little punks,'' Magorien said. ``My mom doesn't like me to use that term. She called me up and said, 'Snot's not a pleasant word.' I said, `Sometimes, we're not a pleasant team.' ''

As for Chatsworth, the loss was just tough. The Chancellors prepared Wednesday night by enjoying a pasta dinner and watching ``Remember the Titans'' and tape of the first match with Taft.

Outside hitter Doug Turner led Chatsworth with 14 kills and outside hitter Jeff Sperling added 13 kills.
