BOYS' SOUTHERN SECTION WATER POLO: AGOURA'S LATE RALLY NOT ENOUGH TO ADVANCE.

A season of firsts for the Agoura High boys' water polo water polo, swimming game encompassing features of soccer, football, basketball, and hockey. The object of the game is to maneuver, by head, feet, or hand, a leather-covered ball 27 to 28 in.  team won't include the Chargers' first appearance in a Southern Section final.

Top-seeded Agoura was eliminated from the Div. IV playoffs Friday when a late comeback wasn't enough to overcome a slow start in a 7-6 loss to No. 4 Righetti of Santa Maria Santa Maria, city, Brazil

 during a semifinal game at Oaks Christian of Westlake Village.

``It was a big year for the program,'' Agoura coach Dusty Litvak said. ``We beat some teams we'd never beat before. ... It's a shame it had to end here. Our goal was to make it to Monday night (the night of the final).''

 scored the Warriors' first goal less than a minute into the game and added two more of his game-high five goals during the first half to give Righetti a 4-1 halftime lead.

Agoura rallied with fourgoals in the fourth quarter, the only period in which the Chargers outscored the Warriors. Peter Kurzeka brought Agoura to within one when he scored on a penalty shot with 3:34 remaining in the game. Rogers twice extended Righetti's lead to two, but the Chargers quickly followed his scores with goals of their own.

 made nine saves, but was aided by several off-target shots by Agoura during the firsthalf that prevented them from capitalizing on six-on-five opportunities.

``It feels better knowing you can be proud you came back,'' Kurzeka said. ``But it definitely hurts.''

 and No. 1 seed Spartans are headed to their second consecutive Div. III final after beating the unseeded Cardinals in a semifinal at Pasadena City College.

Max Scott scored four goals, Mike Scott had three and Devon Borisoff scored two for La Canada (23-8), which led 4-2 at halftime before pulling away with five straight goals in the thirdquarter.

La Canada faces third-seeded Montebello for the title on Monday in a rematch of last year's final. The Oilers edged No. 2 Damien of La Verne 11-10 in the division's other semifinal.

El Segundo 8, Crescenta Valley 7: Mason Hawthorne, Jin Kim and Ben Stephens each scored two goals, but it wasn't enough for the top-seeded Falcons of La Crescenta (22-10), who were eliminated by the No.4 Eagles in the Div. VI semifinal at the William Woollett Jr., Aquatics Center in Irvine.

Crescenta Valley goalie Sam Blum blocked 12 shots.

Northwood 6, Harvard-Westlake 3: Top-seeded Northwood of Irvine advanced to Tuesday's final by defeating the Wolverines of Studio City (26-5) in the semifinal at William Wollett Jr., Aquatics Center.
