BOYS' SOCCER NOTEBOOK: NO SIGNS OF HART SLOWING DOWN.

Byline: Matthew Kredell Staff Writer

Hart became a Foothill League power in boys' soccer in Robert Ciccone's six years as coach. But with Ciccone retiring and 12 seniors graduating, it appeared the Indians were going to take their lumps this season.

All those league teams hoping to kick Hart while it was down had better make new plans. Under first-year coach Louis Romero, the transition has been a smooth one.

In fact, the Indians are better than ever. Hart is off to a 13-0-1 start, scoring 35 goals and allowing just three.

``We're doing a lot better than a lot of people were giving us credit for entering the season,'' Romero said. ``Being a young team with a new coach, they figured we wouldn't do very well. I got to give a lot of credit to the kids.''

Even with the games piling up, Hart coach Romero isn't concerned.

``You can never play enough soccer for those guys,'' Romero said. ``They were all upset with me for canceling games. They're hungry to play.''
