 Garay makes it a point to note he isn't the only quality player on the Palmdale High boys' soccer team, and that the Falcons can win big games without him scoring.

Garay's teammates proved him right Wednesday.

In a rare occurrence, Garay was held without a goal on Wednesday, but Palmdale still staked its claim to sole possession of first place in the Golden League, as three other Falcons found the net in a 4-1 victory over Highland.

The Bulldogs were the league's first team to shut out Garay, who has 26 goals this season, including multiple scores in each of Palmdale's previous league games.

Two goals by Carlos Aguilar and one each from Brandon Alfaro and Christian Hernandez Corporal Christian Hernandez is a United States Marine from 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines who was part of the 2003 Invasion of Iraq and while at Camp Whitehorse, in Iraq, was accused of having a role in the death of Nagem Hatab.  were enough to demonstrate that containing Garay doesn't necessarily translate to beating the Falcons.

Palmdale improved to 15-0-3 overall and 4-0 in league play. Highland (2-1-2 Golden) had been tied for first on points but had played one more league game than the Falcons.

Tourism and retailing are important, and the city has motion-picture, biotechnology, and software industries.  2-0. The Spirits (12-5-1, 1-2) return to action today at Desert Christian.

--In the rankings: Palmdale moved up to No. 5 in the Div. I rankings. Paraclete is sixth in Div. V, and Mojave dropped to fifth in Div. VI.
