BOYS' SOCCER: LOYOLA WINS DEFENSIVE SHOWDOWN FOR TOP SPOT ALFONSO SCORES GAME'S ONLY GOAL.

Byline: ERIK BOAL Special to the Daily News

Goals continue to be tough to come by against Harvard-Westlake of Studio City, but the goal of winning a Mission League girls' soccer title remained well within Louisville of Woodland Hills' grasp.

With a 0-0 tie Monday against the host Wolverines, the Royals recorded a point against Harvard-Westlake (7-7-4, 0-0-2) for the fifth consecutive year, something no other league team has done.

Now the challenge for Louisville (4-5-5, 1-0-1) is to avoid stumbling stumbling

``The past four years here we've lost only once,'' said Louisville coach Jose Perez, whose team has recorded seven points in its past 11 meetings with the five-time defending league champion.

``The girls come here and they believe they can play with them. And when you think you can win, you play well.''

``Against such a good team like Harvard-Westlake, we've got to create our chances any way we can,'' Perez said. ``We knew if we held them the first 10 minutes of the second half, we were going to change (the momentum).''

Louisville, which has beaten the Wolverines twice in their past 52 league games (37-3-12), received two big saves from Amano on shots by Erin Kristovich in the first five minutes of the second half.

``We're going to create two or three good chances a game and we have to put one away,'' Harvard-Westlake coach Richard Simms Richard Simm was a Bohemian luger who competed in the early 1910s.
