Conor Hearn would not allow the Loyola of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  boys' soccer team to get down after falling behind 19 minutes into the Southern Section Div. The Cubs had done too much to get there.

Fourth-seeded Loyola had many dramatic victories, including its overtime victory in the semifinals over top-seeded Wilson of Long Beach -- the fifth-ranked team in the country by Student Sports -- and its run culminated with a 1-1 tie and a share of the division title.

After dictating the pace of the first five minutes of the match, the Cubs (23-6-4) fell behind in the 19th minute when the Eagles' Andrew Park headed in a goal past Loyola goalkeeper Marc Gardner.

Ten minutes later, Loyola got the equalizer with a hard shot by Hearn from 10 feet out, which deflected de·flect

The Cubs didn't have the luxury of overtime to win this time, but Hearn seemed satisfied.

"All week we talked about how we just had 80 minutes to win this game," Hearn said. "We fell behind early and we had to get that goal back, and we did."

The Cubs had a chance to take the lead two minutes into the second half, but Casey Buckely's point-blank shot the shot of a gun pointed directly toward the object to be hit.

"All and all, it's a sweet feeling," Hearn said. "Even though we tied, it's still a championship, and I will always remember it."
