 opens play in the 36-hole City Section championship at 10:30 a.m. today at Griffith Park Griffith Park is a large public park at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains. It is situated in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The park covers 4,210 acres (17 km²) of land, making it one of the largest urban parks in North America. .

The Highlanders, who won six consecutive championships 1991-96 before Chatsworth ended that streak in 1997, added another City title in 1998, then ended a two-year title run by longtime City power Palisades Palisades, cliffs along the west bank of the Hudson River, NE N.J. and SE N.Y., extending from N of Jersey City, N.J., to the vicinity of Piermont, N.Y., with a general altitude of from 350 ft to 550 ft (107–168 m).  of Pacific Palisades by winning in 2001 and last year.

 was medalist at the 7-A League final, shooting 75. Alex Podell and Steve Chung of Palisades shot 76 in the 7-A final and Taft's Eric Tobak shot 77.

The City Section final will be today and Wednesday on Griffith Park's Wilson and Harding courses. The top two teams and top 10 individuals not on those teams qualify for the season-ending CIF/SCGA Championship on June 3 at SCGA SCGA Southern California Golf Association

Highland, which went 47-0 in the regular season and came within six shots of reaching this year's section team final, will have five individual qualifiers at the Northern Divisional for a second consecutive year.

Play at Sterling Hills will begin at 1 p.m., with the top 24 individuals earning berths in the May 27 section final at Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs.
