At 6-foot-7 and 225 pounds, Robert Thurman has, in some ways, been a man among boys during the Southern Section playoffs.

"Thurman is a 6-7 kid playing in a 6-3 league right now," Rosamond coach Tim Atkerson said. "He's an eraser, a game-changer, a player that we have to account for at all times."

Thurman's play shouldn't come as a major surprise, considering he averaged 16.2 points, 11.6 rebounds and 4.1 blocks during the regular season. And the Roadrunners know Thurman well after facing him twice during High Desert League play.

Thurman scored 12 points and added 15 rebounds and three blocks in a 60-46 victory in the first encounter between the two. He posted even better numbers -- 21 points, 12 boards and five blocks -- in 58-55 loss to Rosamond two weeks later.

"I'm not at liberty to discuss the matter in its entirety at this time," Klewitz said.
