time, defeating Southern Section playoff opponents by an average of 57 points per game heading into tonight's Div. III-AA semifinal against Oak Park (23-6) at Crespi High in Encino.

"We have some high standards around here so it's nice to see that we're starting to put everything together," Campbell Hall coach Terry Kelly said. "This is another opportunity for us to showcase some of the talent we have here and move a step closer to winning a title."

The Eagles have defeated some quality programs this season, but none as deep and talented as the Vikings (27-1), who are ranked No. 20 in the nation by USA Today USA Today

-- up three spots from last week -- and haven't lost a game in two months.

"We don't really look at the rankings or worry about beating teams by 20, 30 or 40 points, but if it happens, so be it," Campbell Hall junior Dallas Rutherford said. "Honestly, we're more concerned with just going out and playing ball. Having fun."

If Oak Park hopes to stay close, it must figure out a way to contain the numerous weapons Kelly has at his disposal.

Jrue Holiday, a 6-foot-4 junior, averages 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 6.8assists and 4.6 steals per game. His brother, Justin, a 6-6 senior bound for Washington, averages 19.7 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 2.4 blocks.

Point guard Robert Ford Robert Ford may refer to one of the following:

  • Robert Ford (poet), a poet and Canadian diplomat
  • Robert Ford (outlaw), the man who shot Jesse James
is a heady floor leader, averaging 3.6 assists and slightly less than two turnovers per game. Keegan Hornbuckle and Deuce Johnson do the dirty work inside and Rutherford appears to be getting closer to being fully recovered from a bothersome knee injury.

"Campbell Hall is obviously a really good team," Oak Park coach Ed Chevalier said. "We've talked to the guys and told them to be prepared to see some different things in this game, things they're not used to seeing."

"Our guys are Oak Park guys. We're proud, but we're also realistic.

"We are who we are and they are who they are, and that's a very good.

"Campbell Hall is a unique team and we're going to give it a shot."

Oak Park relies heavily on Kareem Maddox, who's one of three area players averaging more than 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.

The senior must try to at least duplicate those numbers if the Eagles are going to remain competitive in the fourth quarter.

"We're not going to overlook Oak Park, that wouldn't be very smart on our part because they're a good team," Kelly said. "They like to slow it down and we want to get out and run."

"We have to come out, dictate the pace and impose our will on them.

"We're ready. The kids are focused."
