Now that Paraclete Paraclete (pâr`əklēt), in the New Testament, title of the Holy Spirit, often translated as "Comforter" or "Advocate." In First John, Jesus himself is the "Paraclete."  has won four consecutive games, Spirits guard Drew Gill gill, in weights and measures

of relief. A few weeks ago, he and his teammates were beginning to question themselves after playing poorly through the first part of the season.

``There's no question we started to lose our confidence,'' Gill said.

The troubles were easily traceable. A number of their key players were on the football team that won a Southern Section championship, meaning it would take them a few weeks to get used to one another on the court again.

``It was tough at the beginning of the year, but in the back of our mind we knew we had a better team than our record was showing.'' Gill said.

What kept Paraclete (7-11, 4-0) from losing faith was its success over the summer. The Spirits finished the summer with a 13-3 record and played against a number of bigger schools.

``It showed us what we were capable of, so even though we were struggling to start the year, we knew what we had,'' Gill said.

After four victories in a row to start Alpha League play, that belief is beginning to show in the win column.
