``No one came out to guard me, so it was going up,'' Finkelstein said. ``Instincts took over.''

Calabasas (15-4 overall, 7-0 Marmonte), ranked No. 10 by the Daily News, took sole possession of first place from No. 4 Thousand Oaks (17-3, 6-1) and stepped closer to retaining its league championship.

``Allen hit a monster shot,'' Calabasas coach Russell White said. ``I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

Thousand Oaks appeared to be in control, leading by as many as seven points at the end of third quarter and by five with 3:36 left in the game. Mark Einhorn, who was in foul trouble for a majority of the game, got hot down the stretch, scoring six of his team-high 11 points in the final 4:20.

Finkelstein's shot overshadowed Bobby Macias' solid effort for the Lancers lanc·er

Macias had his way in the third quarter, scoring seven points during a two-minute stretch to give Thousand Oaks a 32-25 lead with 2:17 to go in the period.

The Lancers were unable to sustain the momentum.
