The Lancaster High boys' basketball team doesn't have to worry about sharing its second consecutive Golden League title.

With two teams breathing down their necks entering the last day of the regular season, the Eagles took matters into their own hands Friday as they defeated visiting Littlerock 64-45.

``This is something that you don't want to share,'' said Lancaster senior guard Michael Webb, who scored 24 of his game-high 27 points in the first half. ``You want to come out and you want to be the best. You don't want to be tied with anybody. You want to show everybody who the best team is, and we believe that was us.''

If they hadn't won, the Eagles (19-7, 8-2) would have had to share their league title with two other teams: Antelope Valley (19-7, 7-3), which defeated visiting Palmdale 73-51, and Highland (15-9, 7-3), 70-63 winners over host Quartz Hill.

The top three teams automatically qualify for the postseason. Littlerock (17-12, 5-5), who was led by Thaddeus Robinson with 21 points, is expected to qualify via an at-large berth.

In the Highland-Quartz Hill game, Pat Londono and Mike Stevenson each scored 16 points and Bryan Young added 13 as the visiting Bulldogs of Palmdale beat the Rebels.

B.A. Harrell scored 23 of his 32 points in the first half as Quartz Hill (7-16, 1-9) led 34-30 at halftime. However, Harrell fouled out with three minutes remaining in the game as Quartz Hill trailed by four points.

Highland, which had 13 points from Bryan Young, rebounded from the halftime deficit with a 7-0 run that set the pace for the rest of the game.
