BOYS' 16-UNDER SOCCER: REAL SO CAL WINS TITLE.

Byline: ERIK BOAL

Special to the Daily News

Real So Cal players and coaches know their run of dominance at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships could come to an end at any time.

That won't stop them from celebrating for another nine months until qualifying begins for the 17-under tournament in May.

Despite several close calls during its three-month run, Real So Cal's 16-under boys' team was again able to deliver its best when it mattered most Saturday, defeating the Michigan Wolves wolves

, to capture its third consecutive national title.

"A lot of people can win a game (at nationals), but we talk about winning championships," Real So Cal coach Alberto Bru said. "A loss in pool play means nothing. The goal was to get to the final game and then try to win that game. This is my fourth championship and three times we lost a game (in pool play)."

Real So Cal's performance not only atoned for a 2-1 loss Thursday to Michigan, but also helped the local standouts become the second boys' team in tournament history to win three straight championships. The squad won 14- and 15-under national titles the past two years, competing as So Cal United.

"It takes a lot to win a national championship," Bru said. "Our boys understand that sooner or later we can't keep it up. But God bless bless

"This was the hardest but the most rewarding national championship that we've won," Raynr said. "We scored in the fourth and had to hold them off for the entire game. I'm really proud of everyone."
