``We knew that (Palos Verdes) was going to key on our top-scorer Peter Kurzeka, so the coaches challenged the rest of us to step up today,'' said Sparks, whose Chargers (27-4) will face No. 4 seed Righetti of Santa Maria Santa Maria, city, Brazil

``I'm excited that I helped contribute, but it wasn't just me who played well.''

Goalie Ryan Paris registered 11 saves for Agoura, while Justin Kovanis added three goals.

The Chargers trailed 2-1 with less than a minute remaining in the first quarter, when Sparks and Kovanis scored within a 36-second span for a 3-2 lead at the end of the first period.

Agoura never trailed from there, but Palos Verdes remained within striking distance until the fourth quarter, when the Chargers outscored the Sea Kings 4-0.

``That was a pretty good team we just beat,'' said Sparks, who once scored seven goals in a game on the Agoura freshman team.

``We thought the game would be a little closer, but when we score more than 10 goals in a game we're almost impossible to beat. Our defense is too good for that.''

Three of Sparks' goals came in the first half, when the game was most closely contested.
