High boys' soccer team advanced to the City Section finals amid controversy Wednesday afternoon, as a questionable penalty call in the 28th minute set up the winning goal in the Tigers' 1-0 semifinal victory over visiting Chatsworth.

Moises Alvarez was awarded the winning penalty kick after he and Chatsworth defender Claudio Rodriquez battled for a cross in the San Fernando box. Both made an attempt at the ball, and Alvarez drew a flag when he fell to the ground.

found the bottom right corner of the net on the penalty kick, helping the No. 2-seeded Tigers (22-2-3) advance to face top-seeded Canoga Park in the final at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at East L.A. College.

No. 3 Chatsworth (15-7-2) was looking to advance to the City final for the first time since 1991.

"That penalty was a tough call to swallow swallow, common name for small perching birds of almost worldwide distribution. There are about 100 species of swallows, including the martins, which belong to the same family. Swallows have long, narrow wings, forked tails, and weak feet. ," Chatsworth coach Vahan Minassian said. "We feel like we played well enough to win this game, but we're not going to leave here making excuses. You have to put the ball in the back of the net to win, and we weren't able to do that."

Chatsworth's best scoring chance game in the sixth minute, when Bob Colocho hit the crossbar on a free kick from 35 yards out. The Chancellors threatened again when Travis Bowen got off a clean header (1) In a disk or tape file, a set of data that resides permanently at the beginning. The Tigers' offense was particularly aggressive in the second half, firing repeatedly on Chatsworth goalkeeper Giovanni Castaneda. The junior made two sprawling saves to keep the Chancellors in the game, but Chatsworth failed to create enough scoring opportunities.

San Fernando extended its unbeaten streak to 20 games, yet it will be a significant underdog against Canoga Park (23-0-1) in this weekend's final.

"We understand that Canoga Park is the team to beat in the City, but we're not going to change the way we play against them," San Fernando coach Norman Mejia said. "We're the most improved team in the City this season."
