victory against Montclair Prep, Williams scored 18 points and sophomore-to-be Pierson Williams added 12 points.

Michael Williams again led the Toreadors in its 53-51 nailbiter against Grant with 22 points. Williams made nine 3-pointers on the day and is out to prove he is one of the most improved guards in the area.

"I am just trying to go out and improve myself every day," Williams said. "I am playing as much as I can and hope to do well next year. There are a lot of good players at Taft but if I just stick to getting better and listening to the coaches, that will be the best help I could give myself. Everything else will work itself out."

Williams isn't the only guard trying to make name for himself.

Junior-to-be Daymond Cowlah of Montclair Prep and senior-to-be Jamal Johnson of Grant had big games at the tournament and will be counted on to lead their teams next season.

Cowlah scored 13 points against Taft and had 23 in a conslation loss to St. Bonaventure of Ventura.

Cowlah displayed a wide arsenal, driving to the basket and draining 3-pointers.
