BOYFRIEND PHONED TRAGIC TERESA..BUT SHE DIDN'T ANSWER; Aunt tells of horror over crash death girls.

THE boyfriend of Teresa Molloy had desperately tried to contact her when he heard about the horror road crash, her aunt revealed yesterday.

Christopher Griffin, who dated the NUI (1) (Network User Interface) A user interface for a computer attached to the network. The NUI is designed to work with remote applications and files as easily as local files.  Galway student for three years, even tried to drive to the crash scene but got stuck in floods.

Her aunt Noreen said: "Teresa's boyfriend's mother heard the report on the nine o'clock news that there had been a crash on the road from Sligo and she knew the girls would have been on that road, so she felt something was wrong. Her boyfriend jumped into his car and started to drive to where he thought it might have been because he couldn't get an answer from her phone."

Her cousin Maria added: "There was panic then when he rang around the other houses and nobody could get answers from phones."

Teresa, 19, was killed alongside friends Sarah Byrne, 20, from Headford, Co Galway, 19-year-old Sorcha Rose McLaughlin, from Mulgannon in Co Wexford, and Marie Conneely, 19, from Connemara, Co Galway, in a road smash on Tuesday night.

The driver of the car, Michelle O'Donnell, 21, from the Aran Islands Aran Islands (ăr`ən), 18 sq mi (47 sq km), Co. Galway, W Republic of Ireland, in Galway Bay. The three islands are Inishmore (the largest), Inisheer, and Inishmaan. , was fighting for her life in Dublin's Beaumount Hospital last night.

The young women had made a lastminute decision to go Christmas shopping just hours before their tragic deaths.

Maria said it was "fate" that they drove to Sligo as the girls attended college every day.

She added: "They drove into college but couldn't find a parking space.

"It was a horrible day, wind and rain, and they didn't want to drive back into the docks to try and park at the house again.

"They'd been talking about going to Dublin to go Christmas shopping.

"But for some reason they decided that day to go to Sligo."

Teresa's family described her as "the most wonderful girl".

Teresa, like her friends in the car, was studying arts at NUI Galway and hoped to become a teacher.

She is survived by her parents Pat and Cathy, and sisters Jamie, Susan and Christina. Teresa was the second youngest in the family.

Pal Marie Conneely was also killed in the horror road smash.

Her heartbroken brother Ciaran said: "Marie was loved by everybody, and was the life and soul of the party.

"She lived for her friends, that was her life."
