BOY WINS HORSE SHOW COLOMBIAN, 14, TAKES FIRST PLACE.

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - A 14-year-old Colombian boy won first place during a children's equestrian competition Sunday at Hummingbird Nest Ranch. The show featured jumpers from 17 nations.

Brazil, Lebanon, Russia and Romania were among the countries represented at the International Federation for Equestrian Sports' ninth annual Children's International Jumping Final. Thirty-two children ages 12 to 14 were entered in the competition.

Considered television's first reality show, An American Family was shot documentary style in 1971 and first aired in the United States on PBS in early 1973.
. The resident of Medellin, Colombia, said he began riding horses at the age of 4.

``I remember sometimes I fell down really hard, and sometimes I was happy. Then I wanted to retire (at) one point, but I realized that was my life, so I kept going,'' Bluman said.

Some 4,000 spectators attended the event, organizers said. The flags of 13 countries fluttered at one end of the show grounds, as a few spectators with cameras climbed a rocky hillside rising behind their seats to get a better view of the competitors. Several VIPs watched from tent booths along the other end of the grounds.

Eight Americans were among the 16 finalists Sunday. Jennifer Stillman of Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914. The largely residential city is home to many motion-picture and television personalities.  and Julie Weisz of Newport Beach Newport Beach, residential and resort city (1990 pop. 66,643), Orange co., S Calif., on Newport Bay and the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1906. It is a popular seaside resort and yachting center. Manufactures include electrical and medical equipment, computers, boats, and adhesives. , both 14, took second and third places, respectively.

Stacey Yocum, 14, of Laguna Hills La·gu·na Hills  

A city of southern California southeast of Santa Ana. Population: 33,600.
 failed to advance because she fell off her horse Saturday, and it stepped on her leg.

``I've fallen off a lot; I've never done anything this bad,'' said Yocum, who suffered bruising but competed again Sunday in a consolation round.

``They're good friends, and I hope that I can keep seeing them,'' she said.
