, sheriff's deputies found a 4-year-old boy who disappeared New Year's Eve with his baby sitter's ex-convict husband.

Ethan Rene Soto-Capps was found in the husband's car, which deputies spotted Saturday night and stopped after a short pursuit through Lancaster.

Loren Mason, 41, of Palmdale was jailed without bail Sunday on suspicion of violating his parole parole (pərōl`), in criminal law, release from prison of a convict before the expiration of his term on condition that his activities be restricted and that he report regularly to an officer.  and on suspicion of felony felony (fĕl`ənē), any grave crime, in contrast to a misdemeanor, that is so declared in statute or was so considered in common law.  cruelty Cruelty

Deputies took the boy to a hospital to be examined but said there were no obvious signs of injury or abuse.

Mason's wife had been baby-sitting the boy at her home in Palmdale on New Year's Eve. Mason reportedly got angry they had to care for the boy and about 9 p.m. told her he was taking the boy home to his mother, deputies said.

Sandy Soto-Capps, the boy's mother, reported her son missing about 7:45 a.m. Saturday. Mason's wife told authorities her husband has a history of drug abuse and she feared he may have been on a cocaine cocaine (kōkān`, kō`kān), alkaloid drug derived from the leaves of the coca shrub. A commonly abused illegal drug, cocaine has limited medical uses, most often in surgical applications that take advantage of the fact that, in  binge, deputies said. Mason had last been arrested in October on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs, records show.

, deputies said. Deputies issued an Amber Alert for the missing child about 10 p.m. Saturday, then spotted and arrested Mason about 10:40 p.m.
