Investigators worked through the day, hoping to piece together the events leading to the 11 a.m. crash. So far, investigators have determined that the Jeep was traveling south on Balboa Boulevard and turning left when it collided with the dump truck, which was traveling east on Devonshire Street. The truck went out of control and rammed into a fire hydrant, a traffic-light pole and finally the bus stop. She said he's a very conscientious driver. ``The brakes and everything are in tiptop shape in both the trailer and the truck,'' she said. ``I was so upset. My stomach was real shaky.'' The bus stop has three benches side by side on the southeast corner of the intersection. Taylor and her son were sitting on one of them. ``The child died at the scene,'' Payne said. He bolted outside, thinking someone had crashed into a gas pump.
