The U.S. boxers got bronzed.

Rhoshii Wells, Terrance Cauthen Terrance Davin Cauthen (born May 14, 1976 in Trenton, NJ) was an American boxer. Nicknamed "Heat", Cauthen won the Lightweight Bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Amateur achievements

 and Nate Jones Nathaniel ("Nate") Henry Jones (born April 29, 1963) was a boxer. Nicknamed "The Snake", Jones won the National Golden Gloves 1994 and 1995 and the Heavyweight bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics.  all earned bronze medals Thursday night after being outpointed in Olympic semifinals at the Alexander Memorial Coliseum The Alexander Memorial Coliseum (also nicknamed The Thrillerdome) is an indoor arena located in Atlanta, Georgia. It is the home of the basketball teams of Georgia Tech and hosted the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA from 1968–1972 and again from 1997–1999. .

It was a case of the first-round blues for all three. Wells was outpointed 17-8 by Ariel Hernandez of Cuba at 165 pounds, and Cauthen lost 15-12 to Tontcho Tontchev Tontcho Tontchev (Bulgarian: Тончо Тончев) (born December 1, 1972 in Sliven) is an Bulgarian boxer, who won the Lightweight Silver medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics.  of Bulgaria at 132 pounds.

Jones' chance of reaching the 201-pound final was hurt when he fell behind 7-3 in the first round and lost 16-10 to Canadian David Defiagbon David Dejiro Defiagbon (born June 12, 1970, Sapele, Nigeria) was a Nigerian boxer. Nicknamed "The Dream", Defiagbon fought for Canada and won the heavyweight silver medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics. .

``I tried, but he was a lot quicker than I expected,'' Jones said. ``We all did our best. It just didn't work out.''

Trying for a shot at the gold in semifinals tonight will be Floyd Mayweather Floyd Mayweather is the name of two persons, father and son:

Wells was extremely tentative in the first half of the opening round and didn't really start punching until Hernandez, a 1992 Olympic champion, knocked him down with a left hook.

``I should have gotten right on him,'' said Wells. ``I waited too long. Once he got a lead, he just ran.''

The left-handed Cauthen fell behind 5-1 to Tontchev, a quarterfinalist at the 1992 Olympics, and couldn't get closer than one point, the last time at 9-8 in the third round.

``I thought I won it,'' said Cauthen, of Philadelphia. ``I just didn't get it. I outboxed him. I was scoring the way I was supposed to.''

But it was that first round that did Cauthen in and he knew it.
