BOXING : Loan backs chief's call for change.

A LEADING boxing coach is backing John McKay's calls for the sport's three-month summer break to be scrapped.

Scotland national amateur coach McKay wrote in last week's SportsWeek how the extended summer holiday is damaging our international prospects.

And Cumbernauld-based Broadwood club coach Kenny Loan, whose lightweight boxer boxer, breed of medium-sized, muscular working dog perfected in Germany in the 19th cent. but whose origins may be traced back in Europe to the 16th cent. It stands from 21 to 25 in. (53.3–63.5 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs from 60 to 75 lb (27.  Mitch Prince is one of Scotland's best 60kg fighters, contacted us to offer his support. Loan said: 'John was right about boxer fitness levels decreasing during the summer holiday months.

'Most boys are away from the gym for five weeks and, as John says, it takes many weeks to regain fitness.

'Everybody must realise that to be successful fitness levels should not be allowed to decrease.

'Some critics will say the Russians work full time at boxing but that's no longer true.

'For example, the present Russian world amateur flyweight fly·weight
