Obviously, a court date a month earlier would make it impossible for Vargas to fight no matter the verdict: He needs time to train. ``That's interesting to me,'' Dozier said. Vargas could avoid the conflict in one of two ways. One, the two sides could come to an agreement at a settlement conference on Sept. 6. Obviously, that's what Vargas is hoping for. He wants to put this behind him and move on. ``We'll do what we can and hopefully everything will be all right,'' Vargas said. However, Dozier said neither side has been willing to bend enough to reach an agreement and he doesn't believe anything will change on Sept. 6. And, two, if no settlement is reached, the trial date could be moved back a second time. ``He's already had the date changed once,'' Dozier said. ``I tend to think it would be difficult to say, 'Hey, let's change it again.' He could certainly make a request, though. ``If he's signed (to fight Trinidad), he might be able to get another continuance.''
