BOXING: Barney vows to land crown.

Matthew Barney admits he faces the toughest task of his career tonight when he bids for the European light-heavyweight title in Germany.

The Southampton man meets local hero Thomas Ulrich in Riesa in a fight which has twice previously been postponed at late notice.

Barney has campaigned mostly at domestic super-middleweight level and starts as a massive outsider.

Barney said: "Ulrich is a class above all the other fighters I have boxed and is definitely world-class. But I believe he may be struggling to make the weight. and I am ready to take advantage."
