recently said there is no reason why he shouldn't be a world heavyweight champion.

The way Williams boxed Thursday, he might yet accomplish that goal.

Williams, of North Hills via Long Beach, improved his record to 41-4-1 with 36 knockouts with an eighth-round technical knockout of Attila Levin Attila Levin (born 1976-11-08 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a former Swedish boxer in the Heavyweight division. Amateur career

Williams, 31, came into the fight with a ranking no higher than No. 31, but he figures to be a good bet to climb into the top 10 of the World Boxing Organization The World Boxing Organization (WBO) is a sanctioning organization currently recognizing professional boxing world champions.  physician because Levin had vicious cuts over both eyes. Williams also suffered a cut over his left eye.

Levin, of Stockholm, Sweden, is 29-2.

``My cut didn't bother me at all,'' Williams said. ``He was a European fighter, so that is why I wanted to get a little dirty with him. He had a good jab, but it wasn't so tough to figure out.''

Jameel McCline came into his heavyweight bout against Wayne Llewellyn ranked No. 4 by the WBO and IBF IBF

McCline took a big step in that direction in the semi-main event.

McCline, of Port Jefferson, N.Y., knocked out Llewellyn, of Beckenham, England, at 2:46 of the first round. The three-knockdown rule was enforced after McCline decked Llewellyn with a right-left combination.

McCline floored Llewellyn (27-5) during the first 30 seconds, then did so again with a big right hand that opened a cut over Llewellyn's left eye.

McCline (31-3-3, 19 KOs) has had one world title shot, but he was stopped after 10 rounds by Wladimir Klitschko on Dec. 7, 2002.

Roman Greenberg, in a heavyweight preliminary bout, knocked out Jason Gethers at the end of the sixth round with a straight right hand. The fight was scheduled for eight rounds.

Greenberg, of Finchley, England, is 15-0 with 12 knockouts. Gethers, of the Bronx, is 6-6-1.

Greenberg connected with a straight right hand with seven seconds left in the sixth round. Gethers tried to get up at the count of seven but fell back down to the canvas. Referee Michael Ortega waved off the fight.

Yuri Foreman of Brooklyn improved to 14-0 with a unanimous decision over Calvin Shakir (6-2) of Stone Mountain, Ga., in an eight-round junior middleweight fight.
