BOWLS: Stockingford go third after upsetting Wagon.


STOCKINGFORD AA hoisted themselves to joint third in Saturday B of the Nuneaton Mens Bowls League with a superb home win over previously undefeated Wagon.

Tony Down (21-11) and Mick Williams (21-15) got the leaders off to a fine start but the second half saw the Cabbage rally impressively to land the spoils as their second half trio all posted important victories.

Atherstone Grove B notched their first point of the season thanks to young Ben Percival (21-15) at home to Plough while Haunchwood's youngsters recorded their first away win of the season at Windmill where Paul Ford Paul Ford (November 2, 1901 – April 12, 1976), born Paul Ford Weaver, was an American actor born in Baltimore, Maryland.

Ford was a well-known character actor who came to specialize in authority figures whose ineptitude and pompous demeanor were played for comic
 (21-10) sparked the win.

Third in the table Stockingford Ex Cons came unstuck at Attleborough Sports, losing 4-2 in games with the father and son combination of John Brookes senior and junior setting the Marston Laners on their way with 21-17 and 21-8 verdicts respectively.

Wilnecote B won a hard fought match at home to Glascote taking two of the first three games thanks to Brian Richardson (21-12) and John Mason (21-14) while in the second half the visitors fought back with victories from skipper Peter Woodward (21-13) and Brian Seaton (21-17).

Bermuda had a cosy home success over bottom of the table Birch Coppice B taking the first three games through Micky Day (21-7), Paul Gibbon gibbon, small ape, genus Hyloblates, found in the forests of SE Asia. The gibbons, including the siamang, are known as the small, or lesser, apes; they are the most highly adapted of the apes to arboreal life.  (21- 10) and Arthur Williams (21-18).

Newly promoted Fox & Crane were outgunned at Dosthill who had Terry Haynes (21-10), Aida Carr (21-13) plus John Bennett and Alan Bannister both 21- 14 in excellent fettle fet·tle
