BOWLED OVER NO EXPENSE SPARED IN RENOVATION.

Byline: Naush Boghossian Staff Writer

``The look is very '80s, and we want to bring in 2001,'' said new owner Tom Cristi, who took over in February 2001.

The wood paneling is going, along with the rest of the humdrum decor.

Cristi is investing nearly $700,000 to refurbish re·fur·bish

 as we can.''

Cristi envisioned a ``Las Vegas'' look with glow-in-the-dark carpet and furniture throughout the bowling alley for the state-of-the-art light and sound show called ``Thunder Alley Thunder Alley was an American television program, a situation comedy which ran for a season and a half (from 9 March 1994 until 4 July 1995) on the ABC Television Network. .''

Even the new bowling balls will glow.

Cristi said one of his main objectives is to be family and community-oriented by offering families, local schools, corporations and organizations hosting fund-raisers incentives to come to his bowling alley.

``My feeling is I have to get as involved with the community as I can, because to get people to come here you have to give back,'' said Cristi, who is no stranger to the bowling alley business. He ran the Sports Center Bowl in Studio City from 1973 to 1996.

Cristi already has a deal with local PTAs, where he charges $10 per person for three games of bowling and gives half of it to the school.

He also has created new promotions like a family package, party packages, and ``Quartermania'' on Mondays where one game costs two quarters, shoe rental is one quarter and a soda is one quarter.

And he has added three new party rooms and made plans to build a patio patio

The bar and grill will have eight television sets, which all will be tuned to sports events.

Cristi has a vision for his new bowling alley, and he is not going to stop until he achieves it.

``I want people to come in and think ... `unbelieva-bowl!''' he said.
