BOT welcomes new members, amends strategic plan.

NRPA's Board of Trustees board of trustees Politics The posse of thugs who oversee an institution's administration. See Board of directors.  held its annual meeting following NRPA's Congress and Exposition, where members discussed the strategic plan, the association's finances and approved several action items.

Chairman Ron Lehman who presided at the meeting, first gave his report, where he discussed the success of the Congress in San Antonio, Texas “San Antonio” redirects here. For other uses, see San Antonio (disambiguation).
San Antonio is the second most populous city in Texas, the third most populous metropolitan area in Texas, and is the seventh most populous city in the United States. As of the 2006 U.S.
, and reviewed the year's successes.

The board also accepted the financial audit, which stated that NBPA NBPA National Basketball Players Association
NBPA National Black Police Association
NBPA National Black Prosecutors Association
NBPA National Beverage & Products Association
NBPA National Broadcast Pilots Association
NBPA Nordic-Baltic Police Academy
was in good financial health, as well as the findings from the governance roles task force that looked at what members thought of governance within the association.

One of the most important orders of business was consideration of the strategic plan. During Congress, members were given opportunities to comment on the plan, as well as give direct input at an open comment session. Board members took these suggestions, and amended the previous plan to include changes such as wording in certain goals; the addition of an objective that will look into if and why there is an enrollment decline in park and recreation education majors; the refinement of a process for reducing the size of the Board (that will be decided after further research is done); and clarification of the tactic-setting process.

One issue that was debated revolved around the emphasis on "public" parks and recreation in the plan. After much discussion at the board meeting, the trustees voted to retain this emphasis, noting that the purpose is to provide focus, and not to exclude anyone from membership.

New board of trustee members were sworn in during a dinner following the meeting. Please welcome these new board members to NRPA NRPA National Recreation and Park Association
