MIDLAND bosses are being warned not to assume that women have no interest in the World Cup

They also warn that as Britain is now a diverse and multinational society, staff may want to watch matches involving countries other than England and should not be discriminated against.

The advice comes in new ACAS guidelines designed to keep the footballing feast trouble-free.

Employers are being urged to be as flexible as possible in allowing staff to take time off to see matches - or to allow them to watch big games while at work.

But there is a sting in the tail. Workers could find themselves being sacked if they take a 'sick-ie' to watch the Cup.
