Better On-line Solutions (Nasdaq:BOSC), the Israeli specialists in VoIP Internet telephony Another term for IP telephony and VoIP. In the late 1990s, some people made a distinction between Internet Telephony and VoIP: Internet telephony referred to voice over the public Internet, while VoIP referred to voice over private IP networks.  gateways, print management software and IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. The move from Hinckley to Leicester is the first phase in a $30 million investment in new sales, support and R&D facilities throughout Europe. BOS will be opening offices in Paris, closely followed by Italy, Spain, and an expansion of their existing operations in Germany.

Reporting to Dave Culley, promoted from UK to European Managing Director last year, and Barry Underhill as European Sales Director, thirty new sales and support staff are being recruited.

New Management Team

New management appointments include Nik Sakaria, formerly with Wall Data, as European Channel Manager for all BOS' AS/400 products. Also new on board are Ian Blackman, formerly with e-Distribution, as European Technical Support Manager, and Ann O'Shaughnessy who joins from Quatrix Communications as European Marketing Manager.

New Product Strategy

Although BOS sees the major growth coming from its new TeleLynk VoIP Internet telephony gateways and e-TeleLynk Web-to-phone solutions, as well as PrintBoss, the company promises to keep faith with its traditional AS/400 LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  and Internet connectivity markets and, even, its Twinax products on which the company was founded back in 1992.

The PrintBoss Revelation

The new PrintBoss software allows users to design, automatically route and store, graphically enhanced documents to multiple destinations based on user defined Any format, layout, structure or language that is developed by the user.  preferences. Print jobs may be routed to individual e-mail and fax addresses as well as to target printers and even trays. And the software not only improves existing documents, but it can create the highest quality forms, logos, letterheads and even cheques.

"PrintBoss really scores in multi-platform installations. Operating under Windows 95/98/NT Refers to all 32-bit versions of Windows prior to Windows 2000. It implies Windows ME and Windows 2000. It specifically excludes Windows 3.x. See Windows.  or 2000, it provides PC-based design, management and routing of print jobs from multiple operating environments - AIX/UNIX, Linux, mainframes and DOS, as well as the AS/400. It is still the only completely open print design and management solution on the market," says Dave Culley.

BOS is also in negotiations with several of the leading printer manufacturers who plan to bundle the PrintBoss software within their devices for the AS/400 and other markets. Such OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  deals could boost BOS' worldwide sales by $ several million in 2001.

The Lynk to VoIP

Since the launch of its first BOSaNOVA Internet Server in 1997, BOS has been an ardent supporter of TCP/IP TCP/IP

In popular usage, it is said that data communications make it possible for one computer to "talk" with another. . It was logical, therefore, that the R&D team should take this expertise into the telecoms arena and develop Voice over IP gateways and adapters.

Because this was then, in 1998, considered to be a total diversification, BOS established Lynk Ltd. as a separate subsidiary company. In October 1999, Lynk launched TeleLynk, the first complete VoIP hardware and software system to provide business class telephony, and real time fax, over IP - be it Internet, intranet or existing VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks.  or packet switched data networks.

This was swiftly followed by the e-TeleLynk Web-to-phone gateway which enables Website owners to provide their customers with free VoIP calls to Website agents over the same Internet link whilst the agent and customer are viewing the same Web page. e-TeleLynk has been a resounding re·sound

The first version of the TeleLynk Internet Telephony Gateway has now been updated so that the system now comes in 1U rack-mountable and desktop units, rather than PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl.

For BOS, the initial order is worth over $800,000.

BOS and Lynk Back Together

"Within BOS and, already, a number of our customers, our development of TeleLynk is no longer seen as a diversification," says Dave Culley. "It has turned out to be a natural progression, and with TCP/IP as the principal protocol, it has turned BOS into a voice and data communications company. It is also the principal reason why a group of private investors has put $30 million into our expansion."
