BORLAND ANNOUNCES PARADOX 7 FOR WINDOWS 3.1 & WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUPS; Desktop Database "Product of the Year" Brings Unmatched Ease-of-Use to 16-Bit Windows.

Paradox 7 for Windows 3.1 & Windows for Workgroups includes all of the end-user Experts that were introduced in the Windows 95 version to help automate the most-common database tasks. With Paradox 7, it's easier to save these Experts' work for repetitive jobs, such as a report that is run every week. The new scrollable Expert control panel gives users easy access to the database's end-user Experts:

-- Start-up Expert -- provides first-time users with a way to get started quickly and easily with Paradox 7, even if they have no previous database experience.

-- Database Expert -- allows novice users to create ready-to-use database applications, complete with tables, forms, and reports.

-- Table Expert -- gives users guidance in creating common database table structures and field definitions.

-- Mail Merge Expert -- integrates with both Corel WordPerfect See WordPerfect Office and WordPerfect Corporation.  and Microsoft Word A full-featured word processing program for Windows and the Macintosh from Microsoft. -- The Button Expert -- generates buttons on forms that can perform common database tasks, such as printing reports, inserting records, or opening a form -- all without coding.

-- The Text Expert -- adds text to forms, including special effects special effects, in motion pictures, cinematographic techniques that create illusions in the audience's minds as well as the illusions created using these techniques.  like auto-centering, flashing, shadowing, and rotating marquee effects. Just like the Button Expert, all of this is done without coding -- just point-and-click.

-- The Field Expert -- helps define and generate special field types on a form, such as drop-down lists, edit boxes, check boxes and radio buttons A series of on-screen buttons that allow only one selection to be made from the group. If a button is currently selected, it will de-select when any other button is selected. Radio buttons come from the early days of radio, which had five or six preset station buttons in a row. .

-- The (Application) Launcher Expert -- packages selected tables, forms, reports and queries into a tabbed visual interface that allows users to easily navigate through an application.

The new Paradox 7 requires a 386-based (or higher) personal computer running Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups (3.11), with 6 megabytes of RAM, and a hard disk with 25 megabytes of free space for full install. Borland recommends 8 megabytes or more of RAM for best performance.

Paradox 7 for Windows 3.1 & Windows for Workgroups is scheduled to be available May 1 from Borland and through major distribution channels soon after that.
