BORDEN CONTRIBUTING $1 MILLION TO BUILD NEW COSI.


COLUMBUS, Ohio Columbus is the capital and the largest city of the American state of Ohio. Named for explorer Christopher Columbus, the city was founded in 1812 at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and assumed the functions of state capital in 1816. , July 7, 1995--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Borden, Inc. today announced that the Borden Foundation will contribute $1 million -- the largest single gift in the company's history -- to the building fund for the New COSI COSI Center Of Science and Industry (Columbus, OH, USA)

, Ohio's Center of Science & Industry. The New COSI will be built on the downtown Columbus Downtown Columbus is the Central Business District of Columbus, Ohio, United States. The area centers around the intersection of Broad Street and High Street, and is the home of most of the largest buildings in Columbus.  Scioto Riverfront. It will offer science and technology learning and exploration to children through a variety of interactive programs and exhibits. Schematic designs for the world-class facility, which is double the size of the existing one, were unveiled by COSI today at a community meeting.

"The New COSI will help children to enjoy and to learn science by giving them fun and exciting ways to do it."

Speaking at today's community meeting, Columbus Mayor Gregory Lashutka said that community and corporate support are critical to the success of the New COSI. "The development of the New COSI is the key that unlocks the future of Columbus," Mayor Lashutka said. "That is why I, along with other community leaders, view this as the number one priority for Columbus. I am pleased to have Borden, as one of the city's outstanding companies, join us as a partner in the New COSI."
