OLIVIER AZAM Olivier Azam (born 21 October 1974 in Tarbes), is a French rugby union footballer, currently playing in the Guinness Premiership for Gloucester Rugby. He plays at hooker.  Steve Borthwick Stephen William Borthwick (born 12 October 1979 in Carlisle) is an English rugby union footballer who plays lock for Bath and England. He has established himself among the best line-out jumpers in England. He is 6'6" and over 17st.  in the face.

Azam, Gloucester's French hooker, claimed the incident, which left Borthwick needing five stitches and hospital treatment, was an accident.

But a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel disagreed - and suspended him until December 29. Last season Azam served a nine-week ban for gouging, and now he will miss Gloucester's first two Heineken Cup ties.

Tom Rees will today become the fourth player to be written out of England's autumn plans by a serious shoulder injury.

Rees, who last year was being touted to replace Borthwick as skipper, has been plagued by injury. A visit to a specialist is expected to confirm the Wasps captain requires further surgery, which will sideline him until the new year.

England coach Martin Johnson has lost Riki Flutey, Delon Armitage and Jordan Turner-Hall to similar injuries.

Joe Worsley, Steffon Armitage and James Haskell are left to battle it out for England's No.7 shirt.
