BOOT BARN TO OPEN IN AREA EVENTS ARE PLANNED IN CANYON COUNTRY.

CANYON COUNTRY - Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  residents in search of the perfect pair of cowboy boots - or even a glittery, midrifaring fringe top - no longer have to drive miles out of the city.

Boot Barn will open its 21st store in Canyon Country, with two weeks of grand opening celebrations featuring giveaways and games.

``Many of our customers were driving all the way to Lancaster and Canoga Park or even to our Ventura store,'' said Michael Shelby, the company's marketing and advertising manager. ``We've known that there was a big market for this merchandise in Santa Clarita for some time.''

The store, at Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling  and Soledad Canyon Soledad Canyon is a long narrow canyon / valley located in Los Angeles County, California between the cities of Palmdale and Santa Clarita. Soledad Canyon contains the localities of Vincent, Acton, Ravenna, and Agua Dulce.  Road, will sell everything from boots and jeans to dressy dress·y

``These clothes have been gaining in popularity over the past couple of years,'' Shelby said.

Santa Clarita is a particularly attractive location for a Boot Barn because of the community's strong western heritage and character, Shelby said.

Grand opening celebrations are set for Saturday and March 31, with live broadcasts from country radio stations.
