BOOM IN BABY MOONS; Take a break before birth.. apampered getaway for mums and dads to be.

Byline: Michael Christie Michael Christie (June 25, 1969 – April 22, 2004) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and NGA Hooters Tour.

Christie was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He was an All-American at the University of South Carolina in 1992.

THE Americans are always coming up with bright ideas.Toilet roll, fly swatters, false teeth, the Heimlich manoeuvre - the list is endless.

The latest addition is the babymoon, which unlike a honeymoon is the final let-your-hair-down break before your own latest addition comes along.

I took my eight months pregnant wife Gillian and our two-year-old son Daniel to the Hilton Dunkeld House, to tryout their ultimate luxurybreak for mums - and dads - to be.

Just 12 miles north of Perth off the A9, Dunkeld is an old town of stone buildings, cafes and independent shops.

The hotel is close to the centre and is set in a huge estate at the end of a private road.

At check-in, we were warmly greeted and offered a nip of whisky, which Gillian had to turn down, but the gesture was appreciated and typical of the welcome we received throughout.

You could see the River Tay The Tay is a river in the southern Highlands of Scotland; it was made somewhat famous (or infamous) by William McGonagall's The Tay Bridge Disaster. It is the longest river in Scotland and the sixth-longest in the UK.  from the balcony of our deluxe room, which was already kitted out with a travel cot.

Chocolates, strawberries and shortbread were waiting for us, along with a welcome gift of pampering lotions and potions and a baby-sized bathrobe for us to take home.

Another touch of class is the hotel's bath butler, who'll run you a bath before bringing you champers champers

Ataloss as to what to do with Daniel when we went for dinner, the Hilton had put us in touch with Safe Hands babysitters.

Sheila, an experienced childminder from Scone Scone (skn), village, Perth and Kinross, central Scotland. Old Scone, west of the modern village of New Scone, was the repository of the Coronation Stone (see under coronation) and the , spent the evening in our room and quickly made friends with the wee one while we slipped downstairs to the Garden restaurant for our grub.

The promised "Crave No More" menu turned out to be whatever we wanted from the a la carte menu.

Sowetucked in merrily to a three-course meal that was as gorgeous to eat as it was to look at.

Agood night's sleep and a huge breakfast later, wewereready for a little relaxation.

Dunkeld House's babymoon package has a couple of built-in treats for mums and dads-to-be.

Gillian popped down to the spa at the LivingWell Health Club, for a "New Life" pampering treatment - safe for those who are12 weeks pregnant and over - and returned an hour later the most chilled-out mum-to-be in Scotland.

Dads get the choice of an outdoor pursuit at the activity centrewithin the estate.

Despite a total lack of co-ordination and being a duffer at all things sporty, I felt the need to get in touch with my inner dad, so decided to haveacrack at fishing for the first time.

In Middle Eastern countries it is a staple meat, but in the West, with the exception of Great Britain, Australia,  chops, on the shore of the two-mile stretch of the River Tay owned by the hotel.

With his guidance, I got the hang of basic spinning, but for those who haven't tried it, let me say that fly fishing is moredifficult than it looks.

Both trout and salmon escaped my clutches. Infact, the only things I managed to hook were myself twice and Archie once, although I did throw him back afterwards.

Once checked out, weexplored Dunkeld Cathedral Dunkeld Cathedral stands on the north bank of the River Tay in Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. After having such a terrific time in gorgeous Perthshire, we clung to the final part of the Hilton'sbabymoon package - a 20 per cent voucher off a return trip to celebrate the baby's first birthday.
