Lois Stach, 74, has been a member of the Friends since the mid-90s and oversees the two book sales held each year at the Jo Anne Darcy Canyon Country Library, and also helps manage two sales a year at the Valencia branch.

"I went to the library all the time, and the librarian finally said, 'I think you should join the Friends,' so I did and here I am," Stach said. In recognition of her years of service, Stach was nominated nom·i·nate

"I sold them out in the parking lot to raise money for the new library and to get more interest in the new library," Stach said. "You could see the work (on the library) going on across the street."

Stach was busy Friday getting all the donated books ready to be sold. The books are not sorted by genre, but hardcovers, paperbacks and children's books will be separated.

"You just have to go through every box and see what you can find," Stach said.

The next book sale will be held in June at the Valencia Library. Volunteers are needed to help move the boxes of books and get things set up for that sale, Stach said.

"We need people with some muscles, because it involves lots of lifting. Getting ready for each sale is the hardest part," she said.
