Fat, when it comes to the publishing industry, is the new thin. Or black. Either way, it's the big topic of the moment. But it might be best to wait until after Christmas before you read this surprisingly tasty novel. Or maybe not, because if there's a message here, it's to throw away the diet books and embrace your size with swagger, unless you happen to be devastatingly thin. Then you need serious help. Rob Grant is the overweight creator of Red Dwarf red dwarf A small, dim star with relatively cool surface temperatures, positioned to the lower right on the main sequence in the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram. Red dwarfs, at about 0.1 to 0. and author of several best-selling novels. More fable than polemic, Fat follows the lives of three individuals, each concerned with very different aspects of food. Grenville Roberts is a Z-list TV chef who's lost sight of his feet and no tape measure will get around his waist. As for his clothes, he's reduced to snipping the elastic on XXXXL shell suits. But Grenville's problems don't stop there - he also has anger management issues. Jeremy Slank thinks he's the smoothest guy on the planet when it comes to women, but in reality he's a sleazy slea·zy adj. slea·zi·er, slea·zi·est 1. a. Shabby, dirty, and vulgar; tawdry: "sleazy storefronts with torn industrial carpeting and dirt on the walls" PR operator who's been hired by the Prime Minister to promote a chain of fat-busting Well Farms. The nation is in the grip of fatphobia, with a personal fat tax on the cards and random acts of violence Random Acts of Violence is the thirteenth episode in the of the popular American crime drama , which is set in Las Vegas, Nevada. Summary When the nine-year-old daughter of Warrick's former mentor is killed in a drive-by shooting, Warrick lets his emotions lead him to being meted out Adj. 1. meted out - given out in portions apportioned, dealt out, doled out, parceled out distributed - spread out or scattered about or divided up on the obese. Vulnerable and impressionable Hayleigh, on the other hand, is starving herself to death, and is ever more desperate to cover her non-eating endeavours from her increasingly suspicious parents. In fact, considering Rob Grant is a fat bloke himself, his portrayal of Hayleigh and her anorexia is a complete triumph. She's the real heart of the story and Grant charts her rapid decline with both insight and humour. Grenville, meanwhile, finds it's his weight that gets him the sack, as opposed to his temper. But when he finds himself incarcerated in a Well Farm it's an explosive rage that leads to a sudden reversal of his fortunes. By accident, Jeremy discovers he's not such a smooth operator after all - and all the better for it - while Hayleigh gets an uncomfortable lesson in teenage love and vanity. Inside Rob Grant, is there a thin man struggling to get out. I think not.
