Book festival planned

Saturday in Creswell

The Creswell Library Foundation will sponsor Dewey Decimal Days, a book festival, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Creswell Community Center, First and C streets in Creswell, and at other downtown venues.

The festival will include a 75th birthday celebration for the volunteer library and readings and signings by more than 55 Northwest authors, including Alan Siporin, Maryana Vollstedt, Lois Barton, Barbara and Dan Gleason and Bob Welch There are a number of famous people of this name including:

The event also will include the library's annual used book sale, a community read-a-thon, music, crafts and storytelling.

Nan Phifer will lead "Writing Spiritual Memoirs," a free one-hour workshop, beginning at 10 a.m. Seating is limited, and advance registration is recommended. To register, call 895-3438.

Erma Bombeck Writing Competition - Leigh Anne Jasheway, Eugene free-lance writer and comedian, has won the 2003 Annual Erma Bombeck Writing Competition.
