Gardening, nature authors on hand to sign books

Several local authors will be on hand to sign their nature books 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Grays Garden Center, 737 W. Sixth Ave.

Authors include Kris Wetherbee (``Attracting Birds, Butterflies and Other Winged Wonders to Your Backyard''); Rachel Foster (``All About Gardens''); Ellen Schlesinger (``Guide to Nearby Nurseries''); and Harry Nehl (``Birds of the Willamette Valley The Willamette Valley (pronounced [wɪˈlæ.mɪt], with the accent on the second syllable) is the region in northwest Oregon in the United States that surrounds the Willamette River as it proceeds northward from its  Region'').

Lane Community College's Reading Together program presents two readings by poets Barbara Ras and Eugene Gloria.

The two writers will first appear at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Building 19, Room 226 on the LCC main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave. The second reading is 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tsunami Books, 2585 Willamette St.

Author of business book to speak at UO

It is home to the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business, and comprises the new main building (called Lillis Hall , which is at 13th Avenue and Kincaid Street.

Albion will speak about his latest book, "True to Yourself, Leading a Value-Based Business," about running a profitable business based on positive social, economic and environmental principles.

Consumer advocate to sign books on Saturday

 will sign copies of his new book "Unscrewed: the Consumer's Guide to Getting What You Paid For" at 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, 1163 Valley River Drive.

Burley's guide for the unhappy customer was published in September by Ten Speed Press. It retails for $14.95.

George Wright will sign copies of his book ``Tillamook, 1952'' at Books Without Borders, 199 W. Eighth Ave. at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The novel wraps a fictional family mystery around a true event from Oregon history, the fierce 1933 Tillamook wildfire.
