Poets Turner and Hibbard

will read Thursday night

Poets Brian Turner The name Brian Turner can apply to:

 and Kate Lynn Hibbard will read from their work at 8 p.m. Thursday in the browsing room at the Knight Library, 1501 Kincaid St.

Turner earned a master's of fine arts degree from the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities. . He lived abroad in South Korea for a year before serving for seven years in the Army.

Turner's poetry has been published in Poetry Daily, the Georgia Review, the New Yorker and in the Voices in Wartime Anthology. His first book, "Here, Bullet," was published by Alice James Books.

Turner teaches English at Fresno City College Fresno City College (or FCC) is a city college in Fresno, California. Established in 1910, it was the first community college in California and the second in the nation. .

Hibbard earned her master's of fine arts in creative writing from the University of Oregon. Her honors include a McKnight Artist Fellowship in poetry, a Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship, a Jerome Foundation Travel Grant and a residency at Hedgebrook, a retreat for women writers.

Poems from her first book, `Sleeping Upside Down' (Silverfish silverfish, common name for primitive, wingless insects of the family Lepismatidae. The silverfish, which has two long antennae and three long tail bristles, is named for its covering of tiny, silvery scales.  Review Press), have appeared in Prairie Schooner, New Letters, Seattle Review and Crab Orchard Review. Her work has been included in several One Voice Mixed Chorus performances.

Hibbard teaches writing at Minneapolis Community and Technical College In 2003, MCTC acquired adjacent land that previously belonged to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's former Minneapolis headquarters; the land is earmaked for further expansion. . She lives in St. Paul, Minn.

Richard Moore to talk

Wednesday at EWEB EWEB Eugene Water and Electric Board (Oregon)  

Irish-American author Richard Moore will discuss his new book, "Escaping the Matrix: How We the People Can Change the World," at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The talk will be in the training room at the Eugene Water & Electric Board offices, 500 E. Fourth Ave.
