BOOK NOTES.Byline: The Register-Guard Willamette Writers names contest winners PORTLAND - Patricia Mees Armstrong of Eugene has won the adult poetry division of Willamette Writers' Kay Snow Writing Contest. Armstrong won $300 for her poem "Night Sounds at the Summer Cabin." Linda Clare of Eugene placed second in adult fiction for "One Hand Clapping." Sandi Jerome finished third in screenplays for "Last Hand." William Beaty of Springfield won honorable mention in adult nonfiction for "Playing God." And Patricia Lanier of Eugene honorable mention in adult poetry for "Green Beans." Awards were announced Aug. 5 at the organization's annual conference. Willamette Writers is the state's largest writers' organization.
