GOOD to hear from our would-be chancellor, young Mr Osborne, that we're all in this mess together - which means we must all share the financial pain.

But forget the bankers. It wasn't their profligacy, arrogance and stupidity which caused the meltdown, goodness me no.

Apparently it was the wicked public sector.

So their wages will be frozen - but it's bonuses all round as per for the City spivs and *ankers.

Good news for them, and their kids too, as Georgie-boy also says inheritance tax won't need to be paid to those with a trifling million quid to leave. Fair enough, a million hardly covers the cost of educating one's sprogs at Eton these days, does it? Meanwhile, not one single banker in this country has been properly brought to account. Indeed, many of them are slipping effortlessly into lucrative new jobs.

No pain for them George, just more gain.

YES, I agree that the Mediterranean diet - olive oil, nuts, fruit and veg - would benefit us all but only if we can buy the sunshine to go with it. On a cold winter - dammit, even a cold summer night - it isn't quite as appealing.
